Thought for the Week

Posted on May 31, 2010 under Thoughts for the Week.

The more I learn about Steve Jobs, the more I understand  why investors and employees alike are so concerned about his health  –  what a unique individual. As I did a week or so ago, please find below some  comments from the Apple CEO.

“We think basically you watch television to turn your brain off, and you work on your computer when you want to turn your brain on.”

Reams of academic studies over the decades have amply confirmed television’s pernicious mental and moral influences. And most TV watchers know that their habit is mind-numbing and wasteful, but still spend most of their time in front of that box.

So turn your TV off and save some brain cells. But be cautious, you can turn your brain off by using a computer also. Try and have an intelligent conversation with someone who plays first person shooters for 8 hours a day. Or auto race games. Not an easy task.”

 Sales Reminders 226-234

  • What are you going to do this week to increase your value to your company?
  • Don’t be afraid to fail.
  • You’ve got written goals right?  The other 98% of the sales people out there don’t.
  • The answer to any question you never ask is always going to be ‘no’.
  • Don’t take yourself so seriously; no one else does.
  • Over prepare
  • Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
  • Life isn’t fair; deal with it.
  • Have a great week and go out and sell something.
