Thoughts For The Week + Video

POSITIVE SELF TALK

I’m sure your saying, “Oh No! Here he goes again.”

http://youtu.be/6ldAQ6Rh5ZI

We talk to ourselves all the time. Those 60,000+ thoughts per day control the way we feel and act.

Only through relentless, repetitive positive self talk can we change our approach to the world (and our own self image).

Here’s a homework exercise for sometime this week: for a whole day, keep track (be aware) of the number of negative, caustic, abrogating, adverse, antagonistic, anti, contrary, contravening, counteractive, cynical, denying, detrimental, disavowing, dissenting, gainsaying, gloomy, impugning, invalidating, jaundiced, naysaying, nugatory, nullifying, pessimistic, recusant, rejecting, repugnant, resisting, unaffirmative, unenthusiastic, unfavorable, uninterested, or sarcastic things that you say or think.

The totals may (sadly) astound you.

Believe me, there are days that I do better than others, but I am always at least aware of where I fall on the negative – positive scale (which is the first step to getting the negativity out of your life).

Understand the power of your thoughts; create personalized positive affirmations; write them down and read them daily (when you get up and before you go to bed).

Choose silence vs. saying anything negative.

Your thoughts and words create who you are and ultimately define your strengths and weaknesses.

Replace the negative with positive.

Make it a priority to stop worrying about negative figments of your imagination (that will probably never happen). Let your thoughts encourage you rather than hinder you.

Focus on the HERE AND NOW.

Thoughts For The Week

Posted on December 9, 2013 under Thoughts for the Week.

Sales 101 (compliments of Seth Godin):   Four questions worth answering…..

Who is your next customer? (Conceptually, not specifically. Describe his outlook, his tribe, his hopes and dreams and needs and wants…)

What is the story he told himself (about the world, about his situation, about his perceptions) before he met you?

How do you encounter him in a way that he trusts the story you tell him about what you have to offer?

What change are you trying to make in him, his life, or his story?

Start with this before you spend time on tactics, technology or scalability.

Thanks for being here, pay it forward and remember:  telling the truth and making someone cry is always better than telling someone a lie and making them smile.
