Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.  ~Bill Watterson

Weekends are a bit like rainbows; they look good from a distance but disappear when you get up close to them.  ~John Shirley

There aren’t enough days in the weekend.  ~Rod Schmidt

The only reason why we ask other people how their weekend was is so we can tell them about our own weekend.  ~Chuck Palahniuk

Thought For The Week & TGIF

Posted on June 25, 2010 under TGIF, Thoughts for the Week.

”Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go. “ ~ William Feather

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.  Talent will not; nothing in the world is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.  Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”
  ~ Calvin Coolidge

Sales Reminders 243-252

  • Not taking risks is risky
  • Even in today’s challenged enviornment, if you wouldn’t have dinner with them, you wouldn’t want them for a customer.
  • If you want to become a better leader, become a better listener.
  • Start each day with a plan.
  • Dream aggressively.
  • Become an expert on LINKEDIN
  • Offer sincere compliments to someone each and every day.
  • When you stop learning, it’s all over.
  • Spend time every week marketing yourself  -  doing things that will get you in front of prospects; make this part of your weekly prospecting plan.
  •  Final Thoughts

All great sales people are professionally pleasantly positively persistent (4Ps).  How about you?  Give up easily?  Did you ever stop to count how many times ‘Sam I Am’ asks for the order (before he gets it)?   That is a real study in persistence – especially when you are selling green eggs and ham.  I’ll give you the answer next week.

Remember (TGIF), it isn’t absolutely necessary to wait until the weekend to have some fun.  Here this weekend’s challenge:  see if you can find something to do that is absolutely pointless.

Have a great day, make a difference, and go out and sell something.

Your hair may be brushed, but your mind’s untidy.  You’ve had about seven hours of sleep since Friday.  No wonder you feel that lost sensation.  You’re sunk from a riot of relaxation.  ~Ogden Nash

Give a man a fish and he has food for a day; teach him how to fish and you can get rid of him for the entire weekend.  ~Zenna Scha

There is little chance that meteorologists can solve the mysteries of weather until they gain an understanding of the mutual attraction of rain and weekends.  ~Arnot Sheppard

Weekends don’t pay as well as weekdays but at least there’s more sports on TV.  ~S.A. Sachs

“I think we’re seeing in working mothers a change from “thank God it’s Friday” to “thank God it’s Monday”.  If a working mother has not experienced that feeling, her children are not yet adolescent.”  — Ann Diehl

It’s bad luck to fall out of a thirteenth story window on Friday.

“People are surprised at how down to earth I am.  I like to stay home on Friday nights and listen to “The Art of Happiness” by the Dalai Lama.”    -Carmen Electra

“There will be a rain dance Friday night, weather permitting.”    -George Carlin

I am blessed with two wonderful children.

A beautiful 29 year old daughter who has followed her  passion(s) and has grown from a little girl who was ‘constantly amazed by the blades of the fan on the ceiling” to  the mother of my grandson, a successful TV anchor, and a true partner to a husband who in his own right can lay claim to a son-in-law of a lifetime award.

And a marvelous 24 year old son who is a recent college graduate and an All American water polo player who is no longer living in my basement, on my insurance, or driving one of my cars.  That being said, he  is still trying to figure out just who he is and if he can live by the words of that famous American philosopher Billy Joel:  ‘if you’re not doing what you love, you’re wasting your time.’

If you go to www.fox2now.com you’ll be able to see him following one of his passions-singing.  And then if you are so inclined you can to to  http://fox2now.upickem.net/engine/Votes.aspx?PageType=VOTING&contestid=16063       and register to actually vote (early and often) for him as he tries to get an audition on the hit FOX show Glee.

Who knows what will come of it, but in the words of  the equally famous Canadia philosopher Wayne Gretsky:   “You’re going to miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” and I am proud of him for taking his shot.

Thanks in advance for your consideration and have a great weekend!!!!
